Section 8 Inspections

Emergency Inspections

If the unit is unsafe for occupancy due to no utilities, fire, flood, structural damage, or any other items that DHA determines to be an emergency (such as life threatening and safety issues).  Emergency inspections are normally arranged within one business day.

If the unit is determined to be a threat to the health and safety of the family, the corrective action must take place within 24 hours of the inspection.  If action is not immediately taken, the Contract with DHA will be cancelled.

Here are some items that are considered emergency but are not limited to:

Ø       Utilities shut-off due to non-payment on behalf of either the family or the landlord

Ø       No water; and/or potable water

Ø       No hot water due to faulty water heater

Ø       No heat due to furnace not properly working or no utilities.
