Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher
2008 Lottery Opening

The Denver Housing Authority (“DHA”) is pleased to inform all interested persons that DHA will be opening its 2008 Random Choice Lottery.  Entries will be accepted for two days on January 17, 2008 (Thursday) and January 18, 2008 (Friday).  Individuals participating in this lottery will be considered for possible placement on DHA’s Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program lottery pool. 

Interested individuals may submit their lottery entry via the following: 

·         Having your own Internet access via DHA’s website:  www.denverhousing.org .  Entries will be accepted from 8:00 a.m. (MST) on January 17th, and ending at 5:00 p.m. (MST)  on January 18th, or

·         Computer access will be available at DHA’s Central Office and the following DHA Opportunity Centers (from 8:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.):

1)      D.H.A. Central Office/Section 8 Eligibility – 777 Grant Street;

2)      North Lincoln Homes – 1401 Mariposa Street;

3)      Mulroy Center – 3550 W. 13th Avenue;

4)      Westwood Homes – 3401 W. Kentucky;

5)      Sun Valley Homes – 990 W. Alcott;

6)      Platte Valley Homes – 3050 Champa Street; or

·         All Denver Public Libraries (“DPL”) NOTE: DPL hours vary; please check http://denverlibrary.org/locations_hours/index.html or call DPL first at (720) 865-1111 to verify hours of operation.  There is a $.10 printing fee.

In order to participate, you must be:

1)      18 years of age or older (must have picture ID and proof of age if going to a DHA site),

2)      A U.S. citizen or eligible immigrant and have legal capacity to enter into a lease under state and local law, and

3)      Only one computer entry can be submitted per household.  If you submit more than one ticket or entry, you may be disqualified.  Multiple entries will be voided.  (Lottery entry is not transferable.)

All computer entries must be complete.  Incomplete entries will be voided.  Recipients will receive a printed lottery number after lottery information has been submitted.   

All accepted lottery entries will be held in a pool.  Drawings will be conducted for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program by the Denver Housing Authority through December 31, 2008.  The dates of the drawings will be published in separate Public Notices.  Entrants that have their number drawn will be eligible to apply for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program.  A list of the ticket numbers drawn will be posted at the DHA sites listed above and at www.denverhousing.org.  At December 31, 2008, undrawn lottery entries will be destroyed.  It is anticipated that lotteries will be opened annually.  Directions for applying for DHA's Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program will be mailed to the lottery winners with formal written notification that their entry was drawn.
