Accounting Manager

The Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver (“DHA”) is a high performing nationally recognized leader in affordable housing. The Position
Manages, supervises, and directs all the accounting functions of DHA. Maintains, monitors, and refines accounting systems that ensures financial transactions are in conformity with policies, procedures, regulations, requirements and practices of HUD and DHA. Interacts with the Chief Financial Officer and other executives in asset management and goal setting. Contacts and communicates with government agencies, vendors, and various associations for the gathering and sharing of information.

Minimum Qualifications at the Time of Application

  • Four year college degree in business, accounting or finance.
  • Six (6) years of professional accounting experience.
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant certification (CPA).
  • Knowledge of budgeting and public finance.
  • Working knowledge of Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board(FASB) pronouncements.
  • Experience with the Government Finance Officer Association’s Certificate of Achievement Program.
  • Valid Colorado driver license. Eligibility to drive must be maintained in accordance with the Personnel Policy.
    Benefit Information
    * Sick leave is accrued at 6 hours per month.
    * Vacation leave for new employees is accrued at 8 hours per month.
    * 12 paid holidays per year with an optional paid day off.
    * Health insurance and 125 Plan.
    * Group life insurance, pension plan (10% of annual salary contributed by DHA), short term and long term disability insurance are paid by DHA.
    * Dental plan, vision insurance, critical illness insurance, accident insurance, 457 pension plan and the ROTH IRA are employee paid options.
    * Performance based merit increases and cost of living adjustments are given depending upon current policy.
    Starting Salary Range
    $88,671.35 to $110,838.88/year
