LEAP may provide financial assistance this winter

Participants who are responsible for home heating costs, whether paid to the Housing Provider or directly to a utility company, may qualify for financial assistance. Check out the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) which is currently accepting applications – call 1-866-HEAT-HELP (1-866-432-8435) or visit https://cdhs.colorado.gov/leap to learn more.

Participant Survey is coming

Watch your mailbox in January 2024 – the HCV Department will be mailing out a survey for you to complete. This is your opportunity to share your opinion, let us know what we do well and what we could do better. DHA strives for continuous improvement, and your feedback is a valuable part in helping us to achieve this goal.

Remove space heaters from your home

All unvented, fuel-burning space heaters must be removed as of January 1, 2024. The inspection protocol (NSPIRE) will no longer allow for the use of unvented, fuel burning space heaters because of the risk of carbon monoxide exposure.
See Notice PIH 2023-28, the Administrative Notice for NSPIRE for HCV and PBV programs for more information. Space heaters will be considered a deficiency and cause this unit to fail inspection. Please ensure that if your unit currently has one, it is removed prior to January 1.

What to do, when calling the HCV Department
  1. Clearly communicate to HCV the reason for your call (annual review, conference, inspection question). This will ensure your call/message is forwarded to the correct staff member.
  2. Speak slowly and clearly when you leave a message. Include your full name (first and last), and phone number. It is strongly recommended you do not leave your Social Security number.
  3. Check your phone voicemail is set up to accept messages, and it is not full. If you receive a voicemail from DHA, listen to the message – we may be answering your question or giving you the information, you have requested.
  4. Waiting for a callback? Send us an email at section8@denverhousing.org.
