DENVER – (Wednesday, October 11, 2023) The Denver Housing Authority (DHA) announced today that the agency received 10 Awards of Merit during the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) conference which was held October 6-8, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
“I’m so proud of the work DHA is doing and the thriving communities we are creating,” Joshua Crawley, Interim Chief Executive Officer said. “These awards demonstrate the innovative ways our team members work every day to develop and operate quality affordable housing in communities offering empowerment, economic opportunity, and a vibrant living environment.”
Seven Awards of Merit were presented to the DHA’s Resident and Community Connections Team:

- Community Connector Toolkit: The Evolutions of the Community Connector Program as a National Model
- COVID Photovoice Project: Documenting the Pandemic in DHA’s Sun Valley Community
- Decatur Fresh Market
- Financial Coach Collaborative
- Food Distribution/Family Nutrition Education
- Housing Business Professional Academy
One Award of Merit was presented to DHA’s Real Estate Development Team:
- Gateway North & Gateway South Mixed-Income Development
One Award of Merit was presented to DHA’s Finance/Procurement Team:
- Upgrade of E-Procurement System
One Award of Merit was presented to DHA’s Housing Choice Voucher Team:

The NAHRO Awards of Merit program was created 24 years ago to recognize agencies who found innovative ways of making a difference in their communities and in the lives of the people they serve by creating affordable housing, revitalizing neighborhoods, and developing initiatives such as job readiness programs, public-private partnerships, disaster prevention projects, and more.
