JOB SUMMARY: The Financial Coach works to improve the financial stability of the Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver (“DHA”)’s residents by providing high-quality, financial literacy education, coaching, and counseling. The Financial Coach provides budgeting, credit, and general money management knowledge to individuals and families through confidential one-on-one sessions and group classes. Housing counseling services will also be provided, when necessary. Services are provided on-site at DHA residential properties. Responsible for decisions supporting positive program outcomes.

- Sick leave is accrued at 6 hours per month.

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, or related field.
- Three (3) years human services experience.
- One (1) year experience working with low income and culturally diverse populations.
- One (1) year case management experience required.
- Bilingual, speaking and writing English as well as Spanish, preferred. Other languages also a plus.
- Experience working in areas with high concentrations of poverty and financial distress.
- A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum educational requirement.
- Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) Certification or equivalent preferred.
- Any certification required to qualify for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”) Housing Counseling Counselors, including but not limited to HUD-certified housing counselor and Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (“HECM”) counseling certification.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of procedures and eligibility for federal and applicable state entitlement programs; legal liability issues relating to providing Service Coordination.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of supportive services and other resources available in the local area to adults, senior citizens and/or non-elderly people with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate, organize, problem-solve, and provide results for low-income families, the elderly and/or people with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide communications in a manner that is effective for persons with disabilities and persons with limited English proficiency (LEP).
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and the highest level of discretion related to sensitive information.
- A valid Colorado driver license.
- Maintains a driving record in accordance with the personnel policy.
- Ownership or access to an automobile for full-time use.
