Financially Fit in 2023

It’s a new year and with the new year, a new opportunity to work towards the future you desire. DHA strives to support residents towards economic self-sufficiency through a variety of programs that help to improve your quality of life. If you are interested in employment training opportunities, financial coaching, savings programs or even home ownership, check out one of our amazing programs:

Family Self- Sufficiency (FSS)

Put your rent to work for you and build a savings account in the FSS program. FSS helps families work towards economic self-sufficiency goals and homeownership. In 2022, FSS participants accumulated over $474,000 in escrow savings accounts, just by increasing their rent! To learn more about how you can turn your rent into savings, call 720-956-3803 or email fss@denverhousing.org.

Financial Coach

Want to feel in control of your finances? Need help making a budget? Have a question about money and don’t know who to ask? If the answer was yes to any of these questions, then you should meet with DHA’s financial coach to talk about all things money! For more info and to attend a session, contact Lorne Jenkins at 720-948-8552, or by email at ljenkins@denverhousing.org.

Housing Management Updates

Rent and Rental Assistance
Rent is due on the 1st of each month. If rent is not paid, residents will be required to appear in court and may jeopardize their housing. The Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is no longer accepting applications for rental assistance. For help finding rental assistance please contact your property manager or service coordinator.

Outstanding Fees
Tenants must pay their outstanding fees, such as, late fees, maintenance charges and excess utility charges. Management will start issuing notices to tenants that have outstanding balances for these charges. To pay any outstanding tenant balances, please contact your management office. REAC Inspections The U.S. Department of HUD will continue to schedule REAC Inspections through 2023. Properties not inspected in 2022 will receive notifications when REAC Inspections are happening. Please contact your management office if you need repairs done in your unit.

Community Service
Community Service Requirements for Public Housing residents will start back as of January 1, 2023. Community Service requirements pertain to household members 18 years of age or older who are not working. Household members required to perform community service must complete a minimum of eight (8) hours each month. You are exempt if you are 62 years of age or older, disabled, caring for a household member, working, a full time student, or receiving TANF or SNAP benefits.
