DENVER – August 21, 2025 – Denver Housing Authority (DHA) and the Friends of DHA announced today that registration is open for the 2025 Economic Empowerment Summit which will take place from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1401 Mariposa Street in Denver in the North Lincoln Opportunity Center.

“The Economic Empowerment Summit is dedicated to equipping low-income DHA and Denver residents with essential financial management skills, career tools, and homeownership opportunities,” Annie Hancock, Executive Director of Friends of DHA said. “By providing access to essential resources and tools, we empower individuals to achieve financial stability and success in their careers and homeownership journeys.”

The summit includes three learning sessions. In the  “Know Your Rights: Wage Law Compliance & Enforcement” session, attendees can learn about rights as an employee, including minimum wage and overtime laws, and how to address issues like wage theft. The “Redefining Financial Freedom” session will help attendees understand that the path to financial freedom and generational wealth is a personal journey, not a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s about tailoring a plan to an individual’s unique goals and circumstances. In the “Are You Ready to Buy a Home?” learning session attendees will learn how to prepare finances, understand different loan options, and navigate the entire home-buying process.

A Resource Fair with partner agencies and a Youth Side Hustle Incubator, where local, young entrepreneurs can pitch their business ideas, will also be held.
