Sun Valley Riverfront Park
Where Sun Valley Comes Together
Sun Valley, a vibrant and diverse Denver neighborhood, has undergone a transformative renewal that serves as a national model for high-quality affordable housing catalyzing other investments grounded in equity, environmental justice and public health.
Phase I of Sun Valley Riverfront Park, encompassing approximately five acres of the larger 11-acre park vision, is anticipated to open in 2027. This first phase marks another major milestone in the neighborhood’s transformation, creating new opportunities for community connection, recreation and access to nature.
Building a Complete Neighborhood
Designed Together. Sun Valley Riverfront Park is envisioned as an 11-acre regional park running along the South Platte River, with approximately five acres moving forward as Phase I. Part of the Sun Valley Infrastructure Master Plan, the Riverfront Park brings together multiple programmatic elements to further support the Sun Valley community.
Prioritizing Health and Connection. Through a thoughtful, community-driven approach to design, Phase I will create quality open space that celebrates the diversity of the neighborhood, promotes physical activity, provides spaces for mental restoration and expands access to quality open space for Sun Valley residents.
Phase I Moving Forward. Construction of the approximately five-acre first phase is scheduled to begin in 2026. Philanthropic and corporate support will help support DHA’s contribution to this joint effort with the City and County of Denver.
Help Bring the Park to Life
Water play has consistently been identified as a priority by Sun Valley residents. DHA is seeking $1 million in funding commitments to help deliver a splash pad as part of Phase I of Sun Valley Riverfront Park.
With support from mission-aligned investors, foundations, corporations and community partners, this community-identified amenity can become a place for Sun Valley children and families to gather, play and connect for years to come.
