Denver Housing Authority Employees Volunteer for MaxFund

DENVER – Friday, November 17, 2023 – Denver Housing Authority (DHA) employees volunteered at MaxFund, Denver’s no-kill animal shelter, painting, landscaping, and building additional kennels to add space for the growing number of dogs waiting for adoption during a Day of Service on November 16, 2023.

Stephanie Borrego, DHA Senior Compliance Auditor volunteered because she loves animals and MaxFund’s mission. Nicholas Hamlyn, DHA Events and Marketing Administrator said, “I love dogs, and this was a real opportunity to give back to the community. This is the first time I’ve ever volunteered for a DHA Day of Service, and it was so rewarding.”

DHA’s mission does not only serve the residents of Denver by developing, owning, and operating safe, decent, and affordable housing, but to also partner with community organizations that help provide important services.

“Volunteers are critical to MaxFund’s success,” says Volunteer Program Manager Arianne Lovelace. “DHA was amazing because the volunteers did shelter support tasks that we don’t normally have the time to do with our limited staff like building new kennels so that we can make space for additional animals. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of volunteers like DHA who believe in the MaxFund mission.”

MaxFund is Denver’s only true no-kill shelter. They believe all healthy and treatable pets deserve the right to live. The organization’s volunteers are committed to the mission of taking in sick and injured animals, making them better, and helping to find them forever homes.
